THE BETHLEHEM STAR
Scripture Reference
Matthew 2:10
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.” (ESV)
Personal Thoughts
It is estimated that the human eye can see about 2,500 to 4,500 individual stars at night. But the night of our Savior’s birth, one star, The Bethlehem Star stood out among the thousands of other stars. The star is the focal point but I was reminded in Luke 2:9, “the glory of the Lord shone around them [the shepherds]”. I do not know if the glory of the Lord shining forth was from the angel visiting the shepherds or The Bethlehem Star but I wanted the white rays of the star to represent that glory. The Bethlehem Star shines on us all and reminds us of God’s glory. May we too rejoice exceedingly with great joy.
About This Design
“Unless I see……unless I place my finger….unless I place my hand…..”I will never believe”. There can be no “unless” in my walk of faith. The symbolism stands in stark contrast to Thomas’ “unless”. I can believe because I stand in the shadow of the cross where thy crucified my Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
Mark 15:17
“And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him.” (ESV)
John 20:25
“So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.’” (ESV)
