THE CHI RHO

Scripture Reference

Philippians 2:9-11

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (ESV)

Personal Thoughts

Chi Rho are the two capital letters of the Greek word from Christ and in many ancient artifacts the symbol appears along with the alpha and omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. For me, this ancient symbol not only speaks of the legacy of the Christian faith but also the supremacy of God the Son. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus the Christ is Lord of all. He alone is to be exalted. He alone is to be praised.

About This Design

“Unless I see……unless I place my finger….unless I place my hand…..”I will never believe”. There can be no “unless” in my walk of faith. The symbolism stands in stark contrast to Thomas’ “unless”. I can believe because I stand in the shadow of the cross where thy crucified my Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

Mark 15:17

“And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him.” (ESV)

John 20:25

“So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.’” (ESV)
