THE DOVE

Genesis 8:11

“And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.” (ESV)

Personal Thoughts

So often we equate the rainbow to the story of Noah and the great flood. However, God also offered a dove and simple olive leaf to show his redemptive deliverance. “So Noah knew” is very profound. He obviously could not see the dry land but he trusted (had faith) God would bring them through the flood and God did. We too can have that same assurance when we are faced with uncertainty. His Word reminds us there is no trial too great for us to endure (James 1:2-4, 1Peter 1:6 and 4:12)
