THE CRUCIFIXION
Scripture Reference
Mark 15:17
“And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him.” (ESV)
John 20:25
“So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.’” (ESV)
Personal Thoughts
Unless I see……unless I place my finger….unless I place my hand…..”I will never believe”. The crown of thorns and the nails represent man’s feeble attempt at silencing Jesus’ message. This same crown of thorns and nails serve to remind us that Jesus conquered death on the cross and be spiritually born again from “I will never believe” to Thomas’ proclamation in John 20:28, “My Lord and my God”!
About This Design
“Unless I see……unless I place my finger….unless I place my hand…..”I will never believe”. There can be no “unless” in my walk of faith. The symbolism stands in stark contrast to Thomas’ “unless”. I can believe because I stand in the shadow of the cross where thy crucified my Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
